OverviewSenior Embedded Software Engineer, you will be a core member of a software team, developing Ring's next generation of camera-centric devices. The ideal candidate is passionate about building IoT products and is responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative environment.ResponsibilitiesDefine power and thermal budgets for system componentsOptimise firmware for power consumption, boot time, latency, and other performance KPIsDesign new features and solutions and integrate with new hardware and software servicesMonitor and improve device KPIsWork side by side with partners, colleagues and teams on technical problemsAbout the teamYou will join the team that works on Ring devices, including video doorbells and security cameras. We develop the device firmware that supports features such as Live View, colour night mode and motion detection. Our goal is to ensure a secure and reliable product development that integrates with the Ring product range and helps Ring stay connected to users.Basic QualificationsExperience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented designExperience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering teamProven experience with microcontroller architecturesExtensive experience in power management and thermal optimization techniquesDeep understanding of CPU/MCU power states, clock gating, and voltage scalingPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalentExperience with full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsDynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS)Advanced power management protocols (ACPI, PMBus)Thermal modeling and simulation toolsAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
