Overview

JOB PURPOSE

Maintain and move IBM iSeries (AS400) to the Cloud. Work with development groups for capacity planning and support. Needs to work in a team or individually.

Supports efforts that ensure enterprise systems remain best-in-class. Learns to lead teams and work.

Responsibilities

  • Operating System Maintenance
    Upgrade, patch, and apply hot fixes to our iSeries (AS400) environment.
  • Technology Development
    Drive and implement new strategies for the environment. This includes but is not exclusive of IBM Cloud.
  • Hardware Maintenance
    Monitor, identify, and correct moderate-to-complex hardware defects to maintain fully functioning hardware.
  • Capability Maintenance
    Design and oversee the functionality, usability, and accessibility of business-critical domains using content creation and management tools as well as digital media to ensure that technical continuity is maintained and development standards are met.
  • Faults Diagnosis and Correction
    Drives fault isolation and resolution efforts to limit and address issues promptly.
  • Technical Developments Recommendation
    Research and suggest ways to optimize solutions to better meet user and/or business, performance, quality needs.
  • Technical Database Support - Plus
    Design distribution of basic database resources and provide physical modeling and design services to tune database applications for optimum performance.
  • Storage Support - Plus
    Ability to work with Rubrik, HPE, IBM or Pure storage systems.
  • Design and Conceptualization
    Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.
  • Program/Portfolio Management Support
    Contribute to work within an established program management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Ongoing Learning and Development
    Develop own and more junior team member capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level preferred
  • General Experience: Experience enables job holder to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others (Over 3 years to 6 years)
  • Managerial Experience: Basic experience of coordinating the work of others (4 to 6 months)
