Staff Software Engineer (Real-Time Robotics/Applied Science Scale-up)


Role: Staff Software Engineer (Contract)

Rate: £600 - £750/day (open to stretching for the right expertise)

Duration: 4 months

Location: Angel (hybrid)


Are you a Staff Software Engineer looking for an opportunity to operate as the most senior IC and set the technical direction for a pioneering team?


We are working with a high-growth, Series B Applied Science Tech Scale-up based in Central London, specialising in cutting-edge software and robotics to automate laboratory tasks for research scientists. They are building a new, highly talented, and senior squad focused on creating systems that scientists and robots can trust without question.


This role requires a unique combination of deep technical maturity and the ambition to build at the edge of what's possible, fundamentally shaping the future of automated experimentation.


Key Responsibilities and Profile

  • Operate as a hands-on contributor with first-principles influence, shaping engineering patterns and technical design.
  • Lead direction through technical excellence, particularly in real-time hardware/software integrations.
  • Craft the SDKs, abstractions, and tools that make robot integrations fast, safe, and repeatable.
  • Build highly reliable systems for both scientists and robotic components.


Essential Technical Experience

  • Deep .NET and Windows integration experience.
  • Experience with Real-time systems.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience in a CI/CD environment.
