As a key member of the structural engineering department within our multidisciplinary consultancy, you will work closely with the Director for Structural Engineering, supporting the delivery of a wide range of projects focused on existing buildings rather than new builds.This is an opportunity to take responsibility for the design and management of individual projects, working on the assessment, remediation, and strengthening of structures. You will contribute to complex structural investigations, refurbishment schemes, and defect analysis, playing a vital role in ensuring the long-term integrity of buildings.Life as a Structural Engineer at Capital:As a Structural Engineer at Capital, your role will centre on the remediation, refurbishment, strengthening, and upgrading of existing buildings, rather than new-build developments. From the outset, you will collaborate closely with architects, surveyors, and clients to develop safe, efficient, and sustainable design solutions tailored to existing structures.Your work will involve conducting feasibility studies and structural assessments, carrying out in-depth evaluations of building structures, defects, and failures, and providing expert recommendations for repair, strengthening, and refurbishment. You will take the lead in structural investigations and defect analysis, diagnosing issues in medium- and high-rise buildings, identifying causes, and developing cost-effective remediation solutions.In addition, you will be responsible for refurbishment and strengthening design, producing detailed structural designs for re-modelling, strengthening, and upgrading existing buildings across a range of materials. Your role will extend to on-site inspections and progress monitoring, ensuring that all work adheres to design specifications, safety standards, and best practices.A key part of your role will be ensuring compliance with UK building regulations, British Standards, Eurocodes, and CDM Regulations while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including fire engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors, to align structural solutions with broader building safety and compliance strategies.
