Every year, Apollo recruits a group of exceptional students for a 12-month industrial placement. This provides an excellent opportunity to apply theory in practice and gain valuable manufacturing industry experience by working on live projects as part of the team.
About You
- Studying for an Engineering or Science degree.
- Problem-solver who loves finding creative solutions.
- Curious and eager to find answers.
- Skilled in building 3D models and conceptualizing designs (SolidWorks preferred).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of materials, especially injection-moulded plastics & sheet metal.

A Day in The Life Of…
- Creating innovative design concepts and evaluating them with colleagues.
- Participating in DFMEA/PFMEA reviews to ensure robust designs.
- Reviewing mould flow reports and updating CAD models accordingly.
- Running light output simulations for lens designs.
- Collaborating with PCB designers on component placement.
- Conducting CFD simulations to assess design changes.
- Performing FEA simulations to compare mechanical clips.
- Generating tolerance analysis reports.
- Prototyping concepts via 3D printing for peer review.
- Refining engineering drawings for final checks.
- Testing development projects in the lab.
- Participating in product validation and verification testing.
