Are you a Controls Engineer who enjoys problem-solving, programming, and keeping fast-moving automated systems running at their best?
We're supporting a well-established manufacturer in the West Midlands area who are looking for a Systems Control Engineer to join their maintenance engineering team.
This is a single-site, days-based role within a large, high-volume automated production facility - Reporting to a hands-on Engineering Manager with a strong electrical and controls background.
You’ll work closely with the wider engineering and production teams to maintain, improve, and optimise a range of PLC and SCADA-based control systems across high-volume manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve control system faults across automated production equipment.
Modify and develop PLC and HMI code to support reliability and process improvements.
Support the ongoing modernisation of control systems and network infrastructure.
Liaise with engineering and maintenance teams to deliver safe, efficient solutions.
Maintain documentation, drawings, and backups for control systems and equipment. Technical Experience
Ideally, you’ll have experience with some or all of the following:
Siemens: Simatic Manager, TIA Portal (V15.1–V17), WinCC, WinCC 7.5 SCADA
Rockwell: Logix 5, 500, Studio 5000
Networking: Siemens Scalance, Switch Management (Industrial/General), Profisafe
Drives: ABB, Siemens, Nidec Inverter Drives
Software Tools: CAD/Visio for drawing, L2L & MFG systems for maintenance reporting
Effective use of test, measurement, and diagnostic tools relevant to plant maintenance About You
Background in industrial, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
Strong understanding of PLC, SCADA, and automation systems
Confident troubleshooting complex control issues and implementing solutions
