Overview

This is your chance to work for the UKs premier test engineering company who supply cutting-edge test and measurement solutions to some of the world's leading high-tech manufacturers. This role will report directly to the Engineering Leader and forms a key part of the Engineering Team. The successful candidate will design bespoke software solutions based on engineering requirements from customers, delivered within time and cost constraints, interfacing with both COTS components and custom designed interfaces, LabVIEW and other software programs. The role involves creating system concepts, bespoke software and fault finding, and provides the opportunity to design and engineer a wide range of bespoke products for our clients to benefit from high quality engineered solutions delivered on time, in full. Candidates must be self-motivated with a passion for engineering, delivering projects on time, and eager to gain experience in designing, developing, testing and commissioning a wide range of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Take engineering requirements from customers and design bespoke software solutions that can be delivered within time and cost constraints.
  • Interface with commercial off the shelf (COTS) components as well as custom designed interfaces and LabVIEW and other software programs.
  • Create system concepts, bespoke software and perform fault finding.
  • Design and engineer a wide range of bespoke products to benefit clients with high-quality engineered solutions delivered on time, in full.
  • Work to tight timescales and budgets, self-motivate, and contribute to project delivery across the engineering team.

Key Requirements

  • 3+ years software design and development in National Instruments LabVIEW (CLD+ preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience of software design process from development through to validation.
  • Experience in automated test, measurement or control.
  • System design and specification documentation.
  • Creation of top-level system drawings and diagrams.
  • Liaise with customers on specific project requirements.
  • Produce fit-for-purpose software within time and project constraints.
  • System integration test and fault finding including on-site works.

Essential Criteria

  • Team player with drive to progress to senior level.
  • Good knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW.
  • Proven track record of systems engineering.
  • Ability to create high level system designs by specifying instrumentation and sensors.
  • Sociable style with good drive and dedication.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Motivation and a desire to contribute to a dynamic business.
  • Solid ability to work to tight timescales to deliver projects on time.

  • Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of GPIB, RS232, TCPIP, LXI.
  • Experience with National Instruments hardware including PXI and cRIO.
  • Experience using C/C++.
  • Previous experience of the aerospace and defence industry.
  • Proven track record of designing bespoke test equipment.
