Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer to join the Product & Process team at Yorkshire Water and help provide the best service to our customers.

Location: The role will be based at Cottingham Treatment works, covering multiple WTW’s and other operational assets in the Hull and Driffield geographical area.

Work type: 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday. You will be required to take part in a Standby Rota.

As a Technical Support Engineer you will help the Product and Process Team meet targets and performance measures, supporting world-class asset and operational excellence across all area assets.

Where you fit in

As our Technical Support Engineer, you will:

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety policies, conduct safety audits, and submit H&S capital requests.
  • Plan, organize, and manage operational activities on sites for both reactive and proactive workloads.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Process Engineers, Resource Engineers, and others.
  • Resolve high priority, complex and emergency problems and drive performance to achieve Balanced Scorecard and financial targets.
  • Manage incidents and environmental risks across the Production area.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and key internal departments.
  • Assist with regulatory and external audits, ensuring compliance at all sites.
  • Verify and investigate asset performance shortfalls using RCA approaches.
  • Support capital scheme delivery and manage small capital and revenue schemes.
  • Collaborate with the central team to ensure optimal asset maintenance.
  • Support RCA investigations and action plan management.
  • Support other production areas where needed.

What skills & qualifications you will need

  • Technical understanding of water treatment plants and processes.
  • Analytical and fault diagnosis skills for water treatment processes.
  • Rigorous attention to detail to ensure right-first-time performance.
  • Experience in technical support and operational management.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety policies and risk assessment procedures.
  • Knowledge of asset management, capital scheme delivery, and performance monitoring.
  • Ability to resolve high-priority and complex problems, with experience of incident management and asset failure recovery.
  • Proactive approach to environmental risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient use of IT, including Microsoft 365. Ideally experience with EDMS, KAM, A12, AIB Schematics, SAP Production, Safeguard, SCADA and RTS.
  • Developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships.
