Overview

The renal cancer CNS will be responsible for the care and management of patients who are undergoing investigations for suspected kidney cancer and patients who have been diagnosed with kidney cancer and are undergoing treatment or being followed up by the kidney cancer team.

You will need to be a dedicated and passionate nurse with experience in the Uro/Oncology service and in running nurse-led clinics. You should demonstrate an expert level of skill and knowledge of the Uro/Oncology service with at least 2 years relevant experience at band 6 or above. This post requires an autonomous practitioner who also works well in a team and covers cross sites (SGH and Queen Mary’s Roehampton).

Responsibilities

  • Care and management of the kidney cancer patient from diagnosis and throughout the patient’s cancer journey.
  • Provide support and information for kidney cancer patients in inpatient and outpatient settings at St George’s & Queen Mary’s Hospital.
  • Provide holistic care and health promotion for patients.
  • Complete holistic needs assessments as required.
  • Work in collaboration with the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • Develop the renal cancer service, writing standard operating policies and protocols.
  • Responsible for nurse-led clinics.
  • Provide care to patients with benign urological conditions and urological cancer services; support outpatient urology services, the Emergency Department and Urology medical teams.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CNS to join our well-established renal cancer team.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Experience in Uro/Oncology with the ability to demonstrate expert level skill and knowledge.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience at band 6 or above.
  • Autonomous practitioner who also works well in a team and is able to cover cross sites (SGH and Queen Mary’s Roehampton).
  • Excellent communication skills and a reliable, hardworking, flexible, self-motivated approach.
