Please indicate your preferred working pattern on your application.Let us introduce the roleAs a Utilities Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and contractor works activities within the bounds of your appointed Electrical Network delivery area. You will hold Authorised Person appointments and undertake work activities within your appointed area.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce, and review switching schedules / safety programs for switching operations on a HV/LV NetworkIssue and receive safety documentation (e.g. Permit to Work, Certificate of Isolation, Sanction for Test, Limitation of Access certificates, Outage requests, etc.)Keep records of all switching operations and documents within the Electrical Distribution Operations Record (EDOR)Be responsible for matters of electrical safety within your appointed areaProvide direction when managing works by other staff or contractorsUndertake the safe operation, maintenance, and management of electrical equipment under your controlExpedite notification of Network failures to the relevant Operations Manager / Network Manager and keep stakeholders informedUndertake the role of Authorised Person within boundaries of appointment for the roleMaintain oversight and operations within your area of responsibilityDeputise for the Operations Manager when requested and act in the best interest of AWEPrepare, assess, review and provide instruction against Safe Systems of Work for the Network within the boundaries of responsibilityUndertake the role of Work Supervisory OfficerWe do need you to have the followingTechnician Apprenticeship or ONC/NVQ with suitable additional experienceA background as an experienced electricianWe’d like you to have experience in some of the followingExperience operating high voltage switchgearEngineering capability across relevant networks, comprising a range of infrastructure facilities and associated plant and equipmentDelivery of Utilities engineering intelligence for relevant networksExperience in utility / building service delivery over a large portfolio of buildingsDelivery of engineering services across the life of an assetYou’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority-changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. This will be funded by AWE.
