Job Description:
This role focuses on wastewater networks with research relating to the improved performance of the gravity and pumped sewerage system. Responsibilities include rising main monitoring, pipework deterioration and rehabilitation investigations, sewer blockage detection, and pollution and flooding reduction. You will be part of a team leading Thames Water’s engineering requirements into AMP8 and beyond.
What you’ll be doing as a Wastewater Senior Research Scientist / Engineer
- Leading research projects and making significant technical contributions. Designing, organizing, implementing, and monitoring research activities.
- Evaluating data to produce sound results, conclusions, and recommendations. Producing and peer reviewing high-quality technical documents.
- Developing relationships with internal clients, external contractors, and research organizations. Presenting research outputs to build awareness.
- Providing business, financial, and technical support to the team leader and management. Acting as delegated authority in the team leader’s absence.
- Mentoring junior technical staff.
Base location:
Hybrid working Reading STW - RG2 0RP.
Working hours:
36 hours Mon-Fri.
Requirements for the role:
- Full UK driving license.
What you should bring to the role
- Graduate in science, engineering or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Extensive relevant technical experience (e.g., in the water industry).
- Good practical skills relevant to operation and maintenance of a pilot.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
- Proficiency with company IT systems and office software.
