Job Description:

Our Aerospace client

based in Bristol, UK, requires the support of a Weights and Mass Properties Engineer on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work on a defence program, initially requiring BPSS Security clearance and subsequently SC level clearance. You must currently reside and work in the UK. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, split between our client's offices and remote work. This position is inside IR35 and will be on a PAYE basis.

The activity will focus on aero-structures, involving multiple Airframe Development projects, potentially including Fuselage, Wing, Tails, and In-Flight opening door structures.

Weights and Mass Properties Engineer Skillset:

• Provide component and detailed mass properties (weight, center of gravity, inertia) and contribute to component optimization.
• Define weight status, set target weights (at detailed parts and component levels), plan routes to target weights, and track weight risks and opportunities.
• Calculate delivery component weight and perform actual weight and balance measurements on parts, assemblies, and components.
• Participate in design reviews, weight maturity reviews, and weight savings initiatives.
• Collaborate with various technical disciplines to understand and challenge component designs for optimal weight.
