We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled Microsoft 365 (M365) Lead Engineerto join us on a contract basis (minimum of 3 months) in Aberdeen or London.As M365 Lead Engineer you will providetechnical direction, design authority, and decision makingfor a complextenant to tenant Microsoft 365 migration. The roleoversees vendor led activities—approving runbooks and cutover plans, setting success/rollback criteria, assuring quality and compliance—and provides internal technical leadership where required. Acting as the primary internal owner, the Lead coordinates governance, risk and stakeholder engagement to deliver safe, secure migrations acrossOneDrive, OneNote, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Exchange, Power Platform (Power Apps/Automate) and Power BIwith minimal business disruption.

What you’ll do

• Act as M365 design authority for the migration:approve architecture patterns, runbooks, acceptance and rollback criteria; arbitrate technical choices across workloads and regions
• Decision making & assurance:chair daily migration stand ups and go/no go forums; own defect triage, evidence based acceptance and hyper care exit
• Security, identity & compliance alignment:ensure adherence to Entra ID, information protection, DLP/retention and audit obligations; own exceptions and remediations
• Operational readiness & handover:ensure documentation, known issues and support playbooks are complete; confirm BAU support model/SLAs prior to exit
• Stakeholder leadership:brief steering/design forums and BU leads; set clear user impact narratives and mitigation in comms and training

Key Responsibilities

• Workload execution & assurance:Lead and assure vendor delivered migrations across OneDrive/OneNote, SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange, Power Platform and Power BI by confirming readiness, monitoring execution, and validating post migration integrity of data, permissions, configurations and user experience
• Planning & governance:approve scope, sequencing, freeze windows and rollback criteria; own the integrated cutover plan and risk posture
• Commercial & licensing guardrails:validate partner SoW changes, licensing dependencies (e.g., cross tenant add ons) and cost impacts before execution
• Regional compliance:ensure works council/region specific constraints are embedded in design, comms and execution plans
• Continuous improvement:capture lessons learned and embed in subsequent waves, standards and runbooks
• Acts as a bridge between subject matter experts (SMEs) and non-technical stakeholders, including project management resources, ensuring clear communication and understanding across all parties
• Identifies and actively manages both internal and external technical dependencies to minimise risk and ensure successful project delivery
• Serves as the key technical stakeholder for all required engagements, representing technical interests both within the project and to external partners, as well as across the business
• Proactively identifies resourcing requirements and recommends changes in response to evolving project scope or priorities

What to bring

• Enterprise scale leadershipacross OneDrive, OneNote, SharePoint, Exchange, Teams, Power Apps/Automate and Power BI, with authoritative understanding of migration boundaries and remediation patterns
• Vendor management with authority:proven track record holding suppliers to milestones, quality gates and acceptance under a formal RACI/SoW
• Automation & telemetry:advanced PowerShell/Graph skills for assessment/validation; ability to define dashboards/status reporting that reflect business risk and readiness
• Change leadership:leads pilots, hyper care and user readiness at scale with measurable outcomes; excellent communication for executive and end user audiences

• Power Platform/BI governance:environment strategy (DEV/UAT/PROD), DLP design, Dataverse/connector re binding; workspace and gateway strategies
• Voice/meeting roomsexposure during tenant transitions and dependencies management
• M&A / integration programmeswith phased BU rollouts and complex dependency chains
