We are seeking a Microsoft-focused 2nd Line Engineer who has strong Microsoft 365 and Azure experience and wants to broaden skills into networking and infrastructure.

The Role

This role is ideal for a technically capable engineer looking to deepen Microsoft cloud expertise while gaining hands-on experience in wider networking and infrastructure projects. You will handle escalated service requests across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, and related technologies, participate in small projects, and assist senior engineers on larger deployments. You will also develop skills in firewalls, switching, VPNs, and other infrastructure elements, building toward a broader technical capability.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 & Azure

• Manage advanced Microsoft 365 and Azure (Entra ID) administration, including conditional access, security, compliance, and identity management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated Microsoft 365 and Azure issues from the service desk.
• Support SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange Online, and OneDrive environments, including permission structures and governance.
• Implement and maintain Microsoft cloud security best practices.

General Technical & Networking

• Provide efficient support for reactive service requests and time & materials (T&M) work.
• Manage small projects independently and assist senior engineers on more complex work.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls (SonicWALL, FortiGate) and VPNs.
• Gain experience in VLAN configuration, routing, and network optimisation.

Client Interaction & Documentation

• Communicate clearly with clients, explaining technical matters in plain language.
• Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in our support systems.
• Take ownership of incidents and ensure timely updates to clients.

Credentials And Experience

• Minimum 3 years\' MSP helpdesk experience, with at least 1 year in a 2nd line role.
• Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure (Entra ID), and related services.
• Good understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Exchange.
• Exposure to firewall administration, VPN setup, and networking principles.
• Knowledge of security best practices (ISO27001, GDPR).
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 or Azure Administrator.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• A desire to grow into a well-rounded engineer with both cloud and infrastructure expertise.
