Job Title: Substation Design Engineer - 400kV Location: Various National Grid Sites (UK) Contract Type: Permanent Reports to: Design/Project Engineer Are you an experienced Substation Design Engineer with a strong background in 400kV transmission projects? This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of high-voltage substation infrastructure across National Grid sites, ensuring designs meet the highest safety and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead or support the design of 400kV substation layouts, electrical schematics, cable routing, and earthing systems. Ensure all designs comply with National Grid Technical Policies (TPs) and Technical Specifications (TSs). Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, including civil, protection, and control engineers. Prepare and review design documentation such as Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangements (GAs), and equipment drawings. Interface with National Grid's design approval processes, including DRN and IDC/IDR reviews. Conduct site surveys and provide technical design support during construction and commissioning.
