The team works collaboratively across the Group COO, business stakeholders, CoEs & Product Owners. It is responsible for the creation and delivery of our Digital Workplace technology roadmap, maintaining a modern, secure and cost-efficient service. We are passionate about enhancing colleague experience and delivering an evergreen service to our business.About The RoleThe Digital Workplace Engineer will work within a cross functional team and will be responsible for continuously improving our Digital Workplace Technology, with a specific focus on Azure Virtual Desktop technologies. This is a hands-on technical role that requires experience in design and administration of AVD, Azure and core infrastructure services.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement and administer changes across AVD and Digital Workplace TechnologyImplementing and maturing core controls/activities around AVD and Azure, aligning to Aberdeen’s EUS risk control framework and regulatory requirementsLiaising with business teams across Aberdeen (inside and outside Group COO) to understand business strategy and translate requirements into EUC delivery initiatives, being able to understand and articulate the impact on tooling, IT support, and operational costsDrive the adoption of AVD services, reviewing usage and DEX telemetryContribute to the delivery of the roadmap and the associated backlogFocus on FinOps; creating visibility around EUS costs, AVD usage and highlighting where savings could be generated and putting in appropriate controls to help manage departmental budgets and produce reports for show back/charge back modelsWork with EUS Engineers and Cyber Security to improve posture of Azure VM’s, aligning to hardening and control standardsCreating and managing reporting in relation to AVD performance and usage metrics to improve end user experienceResponding to internal and external audits in relation to regulatory requirements and being able to help manage the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) controlsAutomating and reducing manual management wherever possible, adopting a proactive approach to improve overall user experience, providing resiliency and ability to move at paceResponding to major incidents when SME input is requiredCreate, publish and communicate knowledgebase articles. Monitor technology trends and seek ways to enhance continuous improvement initiativesAbout The CandidateThe ideal candidate will possess the following –5+ years in IT systems/platforms support.2+ years implementing Azure Virtual Desktop, DEX, endpoint management, analytics & automation.Agile, detail-oriented, and team-focused with strong stakeholder management.Skilled in ITIL environments and continuous engineering/agile methods.Experienced in AI/ML-driven automation and continuous improvement.Technical SkillsFamiliar with Nerdio, Intune, Azure Infra, Monitor & Cost ManagementStrong in InfoSec, resilience across AVD, and Infra as Code (Terraform)Skilled in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and Azure DevOps automationFinOps experience with forecasting/reporting in AzureMonitoring tools: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics; FSLogix & profile managementKnowledge of M365, Defender for Endpoint, Intune, Entra IDTool & Platform KnowledgeITSM platforms, DEX & network monitoring toolsIAM tools, Windows OS, Windows 365, Microsoft 365Generative AI, technical documentation writingEUS tools: DNS, DHCP, Proxy, PrintingDiversity & InclusionWe are proud to be a Disability Confident Committed employer.
