The Company
Leading engineering and facilities management company operating throughout the UK has a permanent vacancy for an Air Conditioning Engineer with nationwide travel.
Responsibilities
- Service and maintenance of air conditioning appliances in commercial and domestic properties.
- Fault-finding on air conditioning/electrical systems in commercial and domestic properties.
- Attend service and reactive breakdowns to fault find, diagnose and repair in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Carry out day-to-day responsive maintenance, service and repairs as instructed; perform servicing and safety checks on all air conditioning systems.
- Make immediate decisions regarding repair requirements if the original job order does not reflect actual works and inform the relevant director.
- Inform the customer (with reason) when a repair cannot be completed on the first visit and arrange a mutually agreed return visit; inform the relevant director.
- Direct helpers engaged in assembly or installation of air conditioning systems or components.
- Liaise with management or client to ensure all works are completed safely and on time.
- Ensure all works and repairs comply with current codes and practices and are completed safely.
- Abide by client rules and regulations on site (copy available on request).
- Seek best value and cost-effective material purchases where applicable.
- Maintain all required training and keep certifications up to date.
- Accurately complete all relevant documentation and ensure timely submission to the office.
- Operate company vehicle and other property in accordance with policies; keep tools and equipment in safe, clean, and good working order.
- Proactively identify and quote additional works when required.
- Carry out site audits, vehicle audits, post-work inspections, quotations and engineers meetings.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and Health & Safety guidelines.
Person Specification
- Essential: Recognised air conditioning apprenticeship with commercial experience; fault finding, service, repair and maintenance on commercial air conditioning installations and appliances.
- Working knowledge of test equipment including an electrical multimeter.
- Flexible approach and willingness to join the emergency call-out rota.
- Positive, professional attitude with customers and staff.
- Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and within a team.
- Willing to undertake further training/development as required.
- Effective communication with tenants and the public.
- Full UK driving licence and basic IT skills.
Due to the travel aspect, this is a mobile position involving travel to multiple sites nationwide and surrounding areas, with potential wider travel if required. Capacity to work additional hours beyond contracted hours when required, with overtime where applicable.
