About the business unit: we help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle and we contribute to the Global Transport Sector Strategy.
Role purpose: We are looking for experienced Airfield Engineers to join our growing Aviation Team to meet increasing UK and international demand. We are open to candidates with varying experience levels, but require some demonstrable industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare airfield pavement designs
- Analyze geotechnical and soil investigation information and request necessary tests
- Undertake geometric and grading design of runways, taxiways, aprons, service roads, etc.
- Undertake storm water drainage and water management system design for airports
- Oversee Civil 3D design of civil works and infrastructure and 3D models for airfield projects
- Coordinate design across multiple disciplines including pavement and structural engineering
- Prepare specifications for civil works
- Prepare feasible, logical and efficient work phasing proposals for construction
- Undertake civil works design and design reviews across all design stages
- Support engagement and management of subconsultants
- Assist in preparation of tender documentation and support clients during procurement for Airfield Civil Works
- Assist in preparation of methodologies, design proposals, resources estimation for bids
- Travel frequently to the UK and internationally for site visits and MM UK offices (particularly Croydon)
More senior roles will be expected to
- Undertake line management duties
- Lead visits to airfields in the UK and overseas, monitor construction works, and produce progress reports
- Provide leadership and line management support to Senior and Airfield Engineers in their development of airfield designs
Candidate specification
- Experience in Airfield Engineering Design or management of Airfield Design; strong CAD (2D and 3D) capabilities
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages desirable
- Ideally a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or similar, with Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
- Experience in bid and client account management would be advantageous
Candidates may be required to travel within the UK and internationally (subject to mutual agreement).
