Role

Analytics Engineer at Capital on Tap

Located in our growing Data Platform team, Analytics Engineers play a central role in how data moves around the business. They are responsible for building, maintaining and optimising our modern data platform from design through to end product. You will be focused on giving seamless access to high quality, tested and documented data throughout the organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• As an Analytics Engineer you will support end users of our data in all our platforms including Snowflake, dbt, Looker and Azure Devops. Our Data Analysts and Data Scientists will receive optimal data delivery architecture consistently throughout ongoing projects. You are self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.
• With responsibility for all business side data infrastructure and delivery, this is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• We work with Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt and Looker - you will be owning the data stack for our global business
• Own the flow of data through our Cloud Data Warehouse and component parts
• Create and maintain well designed data marts through organised and well tested dbt models
• Build out and own custom data pipelines using Python and the Azure platform
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: Github CI/CD, automating manual processes, optimising data delivery etc.
• Work with stakeholders across the business, including the Executive, Risk, Commercial, Fincrime, Finance and Engineering teams to assist with data-related issues
• Keep our data efficient and consistent at a global level, maintaining our warehouse environments over multiple regions
• Create and manage tools for our team of analysts and data scientists that assist them in building and optimising our product
• Familiarity with Python a bonus
• Knowledge of data modelling approaches (e.g. Kimball dimensional modelling)
• Experience with dbt (or similar) and Git for building SQL based pipelines
• Experience with ELT tools and components required (we currently use Fivetran)
• Experience working with a cloud data warehouse (we work with Snowflake)
• Familiarity developing/building within a BI tool (e.g. Looker, Omni, Tableau)
• Strong analytical skills - analysts will be your customer!

Qualifications

• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Looker and Azure DevOps or equivalent platforms
• Experience with Python and building data pipelines
• Experience with ELT/ETL tools and components (Fivetran or similar)
• Experience with cloud data warehousing and BI tools
• Knowledge of data modelling approaches (e.g. Kimball dimensional modelling)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with multiple teams and stakeholders

Interview Process

1. First stage: 30 minute intro and values call with Talent Partner (Video call)
2. Second stage: 45 minute CV overview with Team Manager (Video call)
3. Final stage: 60 minute technical assessment with Head of Department (In person)
