Overview

This post is based in the Strategic Modelling team within the Enterprise Data for Funding and Oversight division. We provide an enterprise data modelling service to the department, modelling data for internal analysts, providers, ministers, and the wider education sector across further education, apprenticeships, skills, and schools. The team oversees the running and continuous improvement of the FE Data Lakehouse service, including delivery of the Apprenticeship Accountability Framework and Qualification Achievement Rates data models for internal and external use. We are responsible for analytical data models spanning the School Census, School Workforce Census and Academy Accounts Return data sets. The role involves modernising these models within Azure Databricks, using new tools and technologies, while decommissioning the legacy technology stack.

As an analytics engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the service offering, ensuring that we continue to meet the needs of our diverse user base.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting documentation of data models that meets DfE standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and risks, ensuring we are user focused throughout all work.
  • Providing training and support for users of data sets.
  • Working with more experienced analytics engineers to develop your skills.
  • Supporting the end-to-end delivery of services to stakeholders that are automated, reliable, scalable, and secure.
