AOV & Smoke Vent Engineer (Long-Term Temporary Subcontract Role)

The Contract

Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive servicing of AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) systems and smoke ventilation systems.

  • Fault-finding, diagnostics, and minor repairs to keep systems fully operational and compliant.
  • Working on systems such as natural ventilation (louvres, casement windows) and mechanical smoke extraction fans.
  • Inspection and testing of controls, actuators, sensors, and emergency override systems.
  • Working closely with site managers and housing officers to ensure compliance with BS 7346 and other fire safety regulations.
  • Ideally, experience with fire alarm systems for integration and cause-and-effect testing.
  • Servicing work primarily on social housing sites.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in servicing and maintaining AOV and smoke ventilation systems.
  • Competent with both natural and mechanical ventilation systems.
  • Fire alarm servicing experience (desirable).
  • Electrical isolation qualification.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards for smoke control systems in residential buildings.
  • Experience working on social housing, schools, or care home sites.
