Our client, a leading organisation in the highways sector, is currently seeking an Assistant Engineer to join their dynamic team in a permanent capacity. This role is pivotal in undertaking and developing engineering design solutions for traffic, infrastructure, and highway projects.

Responsibilities

  • The role involves applying proven engineering techniques and procedures to develop appropriate solutions to client problems, including:
  • With support from the Highways Lead, undertaking design elements such as road geometry, drainage, pavement, road restraint systems, traffic signs, and road markings.
  • Producing design outputs such as drawings, specifications, schedules, reports, and calculations to achieve the optimal solution for the project.
  • Collaborating closely with your team and other design disciplines, with an appreciation of their roles.
  • Ensuring that solutions meet or exceed client needs and expectations.
  • Ensuring all work aligns with the company\'s IMS and current health and safety legislation requirements.
  • You will take ownership and responsibility for the quality of work you produce. You will be supported by senior colleagues and be committed to your professional development through in-house training opportunities and engaging with professional institution activities.

Job Requirements

  • A relevant degree and working towards achieving a professional qualification.
  • Experience in delivering elements of highway projects or work packages on larger multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and a sound understanding of its integration with the BIM environment.
  • A desire to learn, progress, and challenge yourself.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
