OverviewAssistant Mechanical Engineer (Energy) – WSP in the UK & Ireland. Location: UK (flexible across the UK office network). Employment type: Full-time. Seniority level: Entry level.What you will doWork with the project team to develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs based on these solutionsEngage on projects at various maturity stages, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed DesignPrepare Mechanical deliverables such as calculations, equipment specifications and datasheets for turbines, compressors, pumps, pressure vessels and heat exchangersCollaborate with process engineers to develop process flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagramsSupport development of plant layouts and plant 3D modelsWork with equipment vendors on developing equipment package designs and participate in technical evaluations of vendor designsProvide engineering advice and technical solutions related to plant integrity on operational assetsDevelop proposals and bids for the mechanical discipline and contribute to multi-disciplinary proposalsWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrateA Degree in a relevant Engineering subjectChartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of a relevant Engineering InstitutePost graduate work experience within Power Generation or Oil & Gas industryKnowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the industry for design and manufacturing requirements of plant equipment and pipingExperience of carrying out pressure vessel and piping design and stress analysisExperience of working with mechanical designers and pipe stress engineers on plant 3D modelsProficient in MS Excel to create schedules and datasheets; MathCAD to undertake engineering calculationsExperience of thermal plant operational and integrity issue troubleshooting and problem solvingDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
