Our continual drive to innovate, while encouraging sustainability, ensures we remain at the forefront of the industry, and is demonstrated in our long-standing relationships with major energy providers in multiple countries.A day in the life of a Murphy Assistant Welding EngineerControl of documentation associated with weld procedure specifications, qualifications, records and welder qualificationsReview welding specifications at bid stagesRun weld procedures at Leeds and on-siteRaise test house instructions for WPQR’s and WQT’s & review resultsCompile WPQR’s and WQT packagesEnsuring company management procedures are carried outContinual reviews of welding techniques/procedures and the introduction of improvements to operationsManage Project welding procedure qualification activities and maintain weld procedure and welder qualification registersMonitor production welding activities and trouble shoot any potential issuesEvaluate causes of welding failures and implement corrective actionsAttend regular operations and safety meetings as required.Ensure that the appropriate Risk Assessments are carried out for the preparation of specific Welding Processes/Method Statements for welding operationsPrepare fabrication inspection and test plans tailored to the specific requirements of each project.Support the facility in maintaining compliance with BS EN ISO 3834-2 CertificationStill interested, does this sound like you?Professional welding qualifications are highly beneficial (e.g. International Institute of Welding (IIW) / European Welding Federation (EWF) Welding Technologist or Specialist statusProfessionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) in an engineering discipline.Knowledge of Automatic and/or Manual welding of pipeline/pipe work, welding engineering or metallurgical experience/backgroundWelding experience in a fabrication environment is required.Working knowledge of various NDE techniquesAn ability to understand and assess technical problems, enabling you to generate solutions through application of process knowledge, experimental trials and process development.
