Assistant Welding Engineer – Altrad Babcock

Location: Tipton

The Asset Management function within Altrad Babcock is a highly specialised engineering service and equipment provider supporting our customers to minimise cost, maximise return and mitigate risk through their asset’s integrity lifecycle. We are recruiting an Assistant Welding Engineer to join our Asset Management sector to deliver certified Asset Management services, consultancy, and integrated projects across global low carbon energy and infrastructure markets.

You will assist in providing material, welding, heat treatment and NDT advice and procedures to our operational sites in the UK and overseas; assist with the review of internal and external welding related documentation; maintain strong client relationships and develop site personnel relationships. You will support Welding and Procedural Development and internal training as required, across energy, petrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Responsibilities (highlights):

  • Assist in the provision of material, welding, heat treatment and NDT advice and procedures.
  • Assist with the review of internal and external welding related documentation.
  • Maintain strong client working relationships and develop site personnel relationships.
  • Support Welding and Procedural Development and internal training when required.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy Engineering or related field.
  • Preferably at, or working towards, EWE / CEng status.
  • Understanding of high pressure/high temperature process plant and related material and fabrication challenges.
  • Problem-solving skills; ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Experience in Welding Engineering is essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge of joining technologies.

Reporting

  • Reports to the Welding Engineering Department Head.
