Responsibilities

  • Control of documentation associated with weld procedure specifications, qualifications, records and welder qualifications
  • Review welding specifications at bid stages
  • Run weld procedures at Leeds and on-site
  • Raise test house instructions for WPQR’s and WQT’s & review results
  • Compile WPQR’s and WQT packages
  • Ensure company management procedures are carried out
  • Continual reviews of welding techniques/procedures and the introduction of improvements to operations
  • Manage Project welding procedure qualification activities and maintain weld procedure and welder qualification registers
  • Monitor production welding activities and troubleshoot any potential issues
  • Evaluate causes of welding failures and implement corrective actions
  • Attend regular operations and safety meetings as required
  • Ensure that the appropriate Risk Assessments are carried out for the preparation of specific Welding Processes/Method Statements for welding operations
  • Prepare fabrication inspection and test plans tailored to the specific requirements of each project
  • Support the facility in maintaining compliance with BS EN ISO 3834-2 Certification

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Professional welding qualifications are highly beneficial (e.g. International Institute of Welding (IIW) / European Welding Federation (EWF) Welding Technologist or Specialist status)
  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of Automatic and/or Manual welding of pipeline/pipe work, welding engineering or metallurgical experience/background
  • Welding experience in a fabrication environment is required
  • Working knowledge of various NDE techniques
  • An ability to understand and assess technical problems, enabling you to generate solutions through application of process knowledge, experimental trials and process development, along with a hands-on approach
