Associate Civil Engineer (Urban Drainage/Wastewater Modelling)Join to apply for the Associate Civil Engineer (Urban Drainage/Wastewater Modelling) role at WSPJob Description exists to recruit an experienced engineer to lead an already high-performing team of engineers and hydraulic modellers, delivering solutions to a wide range of complex urban drainage problems and providing guidance across the business on projects of local and national importance. What you will do
Provide leadership on a range of urban drainage projects; apply standards and recognise when a different solution is required. Support the team lead in managing project delivery, including supervision of tasks and review of deliverables. Develop urban drainage modelling capability within the team and provide training and development support to more junior members. Provide technical input on urban drainage projects and support the wastewater team in delivering current and future projects; help influence future delivery approaches. Apply your technical skills to projects, aiming for high technical quality and service efficiency; exercise independent engineering judgement and contribute innovative solutions. Lead people, taking responsibility for growing and developing a high-performing team with line management and mentorship. Develop and maintain excellent client relationships at all levels; coordinate and facilitate project meetings with clients. Develop and submit successful proposals to bring work into the team through existing frameworks and new client relationships. Promote the WSP brand in appropriate industry forums and conferences; contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Your team
Work as part of the dynamic and award-winning WSP Urban Drainage team, supporting leadership in shaping ongoing development. The team comprises engineers and hydraulic modellers across the UK, serving projects for a broad client base. Collaborate within a larger network of over 750 professionals, supported by the Global Water Team, with opportunities to shape direction in a growing team. Current work includes a portfolio of regulated water clients across the region; potential progression to Associate Director by combining technical and leadership capabilities.
What we would like you to demonstrate
A relevant degree and chartered status, or significant progress toward ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM qualifications. Clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and ability to check the technical outputs of others prior to issue. Working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems, and relevant British Standards.
