My client is seeking an Associate Director or Principal Engineer (OHL) to join their growing Transmission & Distribution team. You'll be part of an ambitious organisation delivering world-class engineering design on some of the most exciting and complex energy infrastructure projects in the country.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nMy client's Transmission & Distribution Engineering division provides end-to-end services across power systems analysis, substations, cabling, overhead lines, and HVDC systems - supporting the UK's transition to a net zero grid.\n\nAs part of this team, you'll contribute to major projects that form part of a multi-billion-pound programme to strengthen the UK grid, integrating renewable and enhancing long-distance power transmission capability.\n\nWhat You'll Do\n\nAs a senior member of the OHL team, you'll bring your expertise and leadership to a range of technically challenging and high-profile projects:\n\nLead the delivery of overhead line design on complex, multi-disciplinary projects (up to 400kV).\nCarry out detailed PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, and sag-tension calculations.\nDevelop design criteria, clearance reports, and conductor/insulator selection recommendations.\nManage scope, technical delivery, and client relationships for OHL elements within major schemes.\nSupport bids and proposals, contributing technical insight and innovative solutions.\nConduct feasibility studies and ensure all designs meet safety, environmental, and quality standards.\nProvide leadership in internal reviews and quality checks of designs, reports, and calculations.\nMentor junior engineers and support technical excellence across the wider team. \n\nAbout You\n\nWe're looking for an experienced OHL engineer who combines strong technical capability with the ability to inspire confidence in clients and colleagues alike.\n\nEssential skills and experience:\n\nDegree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).\nChartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it, ideally via the IET.\nProven experience delivering overhead line projects up to 400kV.\nKnowledge of UK transmission system design standards and safety regulations.\nStrong communication, client engagement, and leadership skills.
