This is a key leadership position within a 15-strong Birmingham MEP team, supported by 25 colleagues across Manchester and Scotland. The role offers the chance to lead diverse and technically challenging projects while playing a pivotal part in the long-term growth of the division.\n\nThe position is ideal for an ambitious engineer with the ability to combine project delivery, business development, and team leadership, with a clear pathway towards a future Divisional Director role.\n\nProjects\n\nThe consultancy delivers a wide-ranging portfolio of projects, including:\n\nEducation - schools and higher education facilities\n\nResidential - local housing and mixed-use developments\n\nContractor-led schemes - working directly with Tier 1 contractors on stage 4/5 projects\n\nDecarbonisation projects - including significant schemes for the Crown Estate\n\nUnique and specialist developments - such as community buildings and places of worship\n\nProjects are frequently delivered in collaboration with the consultancy's in-house civil, structural, and geotechnical teams, creating a fully integrated, multidisciplinary approach.\n\nRole Responsibilities\n\nThe Associate Electrical Engineer will:\n\nLead MEP projects and project teams, ensuring delivery to the highest technical and client standards\n\nManage risk, scope, and appointments with strong commercial awareness\n\nAct as the lead electrical engineer, developing concepts through to detailed design\n\nSupervise and mentor junior engineers, supporting career progression within the team\n\nAttend project and technical meetings, liaising with architects, contractors, and other consultants\n\nProduce reports, drawings, and specifications across various RIBA design stages\n\nUtilise design tools such as CAD, BIM (Revit), Dialux/Relux, and other software packages\n\nPlay an active role in business development and client relationship management to support growth of the Birmingham office\n\nWhat you'll need\n\nExtensive experience in electrical building services design, ideally within a consultancy environment\n\nProven ability to lead project delivery across multiple sectors\n\nStrong project management skills and commercial acumen\n\nExperience in managing and mentoring engineers at different levels\n\nExcellent client-facing skills with proven business development capability\n\nDegree or HNC/HND in Electrical/Building Services Engineering (accredited where possible)\n\nIEng/CEng status, or actively working towards professional registration\n\nPackage & Benefits\n\nSalary up to £70,000 plus benefits\n\nA clear progression pathway towards Divisional Director level\n\nOpportunity to lead on a varied and unique project portfolio\n\nCollaborative environment across the 15-person Birmingham MEP team and wider business\n\nClose integration with in-house civil, structural, and geotechnical specialists\n\nFlexible, agile working arrangements\n\nIf you'd like more information then feel free to get in touch with Danny Brookes at Calibre Search \n\nCalibre Search promote equality in the workplace and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of their sex, race, , /beliefs, or .
