OverviewAs an Associate IT Engineer, you will help us deliver solutions via diverse non-functional environments across our suite of products. You will help design, build, maintain and support these environments to facilitate validation of in-house software offerings. You will be part of a dedicated team deploying and validating NEC/SSS solutions, providing validation of mission-critical integrated bespoke software and solutions, enabling smooth deployment into the blue light emergency services market through our delivery and support teams.We operate in a fast-paced environment and value engineers who can work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a skilled team.Job activity & responsibilitiesDesign and build fully self-contained environments (Rigs) to meet business requirements.Deploy, debug and fault find NEC/SSS bespoke software installations.Build, manage and integrate third-party products such as PBXs, radios and recorders with NEC/SSS products.Deploy and test monthly WSUS, working closely with SSS divisional security.Provide technical consultation to other NEC/SSS engineering, development, and assurance (test) teams.Follow procedures in line with company policy (i.e. Local Procedures or ISO20000-1 defined processes) and suggest improvements in line with CSIP.QualificationsIdeally educated to HND/HNC level or relevant industry experience with proven experience in a comparable role/s.Good fault-finding skills and ability to apply logical analysis.Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory / domain architecture.Hardware skills with Dell/HP or equivalent.Experience administering Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Windows Server up to 2022.Experience deploying Windows and server Operating systems via WDS.Experience managing and deploying Microsoft Windows Updates (WSUS).Experience with virtualisation environments (Hyper-V or VMware).Strong IT skills with the ability to learn quickly and work autonomously or as part of a team.Good communication skills and ITIL-aligned practices.What we would desire from youScripting experience / Knowledge (Batch, MySQL, PowerShell).Clustering experience / Knowledge.Knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL (user administration, jobs including backups, query understanding).Experience with Microsoft Azure (VM deployment and maintenance).Experience deploying/administering Symantec Anti-Virus or similar.Linux experience.Understanding of VOIP / SIP protocols.Knowledge of PBXs (AVAYA, Asterisk and CCM).Core networking principles such as TCP/IP, with exposure to Cisco switch/router environments.Key core competenciesTeam working: Cooperating with and respecting colleagues to exceed the sum of individual efforts.Communication: Ability to listen, express and articulate information effectively.Performance management: Delivery of objectives through effective goal setting.Results-focused: Efficiently completing tasks with sound time, task and financial management.Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Analysing, creating and solving problems to improve how the business is done.Additional InformationNEC Software Solutions offers an excellent benefits package, including an above-average pension scheme, private medical cover for employees, 25 days holiday (with buy/sell option), life assurance, a group pension plan and access to LinkedIn Learning.Candidates must demonstrate a pre-existing right to work in the UK.
