Associate/Chief Geotechnical Engineer-Offshore role at AtkinsRéalis. We have an opportunity for experienced Associate and Chief Geotechnical Engineers with strong technical credentials in advanced geotechnical analysis and offshore geotechnics, to support our increasing workload in the UK and globally.

Location: The office location can be discussed at interview, with a preference for work from our Epsom, London, Glasgow or Bristol office. Roles may be based in West Yorkshire (Leeds) as noted in job postings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex geotechnical projects with minimal supervision and contribute to a technical review function.
  • Support AtkinsRéalis colleagues to enhance understanding of advanced geotechnical principles and offshore geotechnics.
  • Play a pivotal role in Offshore Geotechnics and Numerical Modelling Technical Disciplines to advance geotechnical design and modelling capabilities.
  • Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams to manage geotechnical numerical analysis and model calibration.
  • Drive digital innovation and extend AtkinsRéalis’ offshore geotechnics capabilities and advanced geotechnical analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and engineers from other disciplines and produce high-quality reports.
  • Travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas as required.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background with a relevant degree; MSc or PhD is desirable.
  • Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience, with offshore sector experience.
  • Experience in lead offshore design including offshore foundations (monopile, jacket foundations and suction caissons), driveability, cable burial trenchability and deep-water anchoring.
  • Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection, soil-structure interaction, and numerical modelling software (e.g., FLAC, PLAXIS 2D/3D) and standard geotechnical software.
  • Experience in validation and calibration of geotechnical numerical analyses, and in managing the process within an interdisciplinary project environment.
  • Desire to drive digital innovation and enhance offshore geotechnics capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with clients and multi-disciplinary engineers.
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short assignments.
  • Working towards or holding Chartered status.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
