Overview Automation Engineer | Glasgow (5 days a week) | 6-month contract | £500-£650 Inside IR35 About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer with strong development expertise to join our engineering team. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining automated solutions post-code release in a Java Spring Boot environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and quality of our applications by developing automation frameworks, tools, and pipelines. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and tools using Java in a Spring Boot ecosystem. Collaborate with developers, QA, and DevOps to integrate automation into the release pipeline. Build automated test suites (functional, regression, integration, and performance). Analyze post-release issues, create automation solutions to prevent recurrence, and continuously improve reliability. Enhance monitoring, validation, and quality checks across the CI/CD pipeline. Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and best practices for automation development.
Requirements
Proficiency in Java with hands-on coding experience. Solid understanding of Spring Boot and related Java frameworks. Experience with building and maintaining test automation frameworks. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions). Familiarity with containerization and cloud platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure) is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams. Good understanding of software testing principles (unit, integration, regression, performance).
