Title: Automation Engineer\nLocation: Warrington/Liverpool\nSalary: £66,614.00 per annum (Inclusive of shift allowance)\nShifts: Nights 2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off (12hr shifts 6pm- 6am)\nContract Type: Permanent\n\nOur client, a discounted retailer are currently recruiting for an Automation Engineer to join their ever-growing successful business on a permanent basis working across 2 sites in the Warrington and Liverpool area.\n\nReporting to the Automation Shift Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of the automated handling systems across the Distribution Centre.\nThis role plays a critical part in maintaining high levels of equipment availability and performance by carrying out proactive and reactive engineering tasks.\n\nAs an Automation Engineer your duties will be: -\n\n" Maintain automation and material handling systems to reduce downtime and optimise throughput.\n" Respond to system breakdowns, performing fault diagnosis and resolution in a timely manner.\n" Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities to the required standard and timescale.\n" Identify and escalate engineering improvements or opportunities to reduce reactive workload.\n" Contribute to the transition from reactive to proactive maintenance culture.\n" Work closely with Shift Managers, Engineers, and third-party contractors to maintain service levels.\n" Promote and follow safe working practices, reporting any hazards, unsafe behaviours, or near misses.\n" Work with SCADA, PLC, and automated control systems for troubleshooting and performance monitoring.\n" Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.\n" In the Shift Managers absence, use judgment to ensure continuity of service and timely escalation where needed.\n\nThe successful Automation Engineer will have the following skills: -\n\n" Proven experience in a similar Engineering role within an automated or FMCG environment.\n" Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ/BTEC/C&G in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.\n" City & Guilds 16th/17th/18th Edition.\n" Hands on experience in electrical and mechanical fault finding and repair.\n" Excellent fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills.\n\nAdditional Information\n\n" 28 days holiday per annum including bank holiday.
