Overview

Automation Test Engineer - SC Cleared. Hybrid/Remote. Based near Newcastle or Manchester.

Contract role within a high-impact programme in a public sector organisation. This role involves building and delivering comprehensive, robust, and reliable automated test frameworks and automation suites in Government or security-cleared environments.

Base pay range

450 per day, Inside IR35.

Location

Hybrid/Remote (Manchester/Newcastle). Occasional travel to client sites in Newcastle or Manchester. Based near either area to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver comprehensive, robust, and reliable automated test frameworks and automation suites in Government or security-cleared environments

Essential Skills

• Test Engineering best practices
• Functional and non-functional testing
• Systems integration testing
• Security testing
• Performance testing
• Development and maintenance of automated test suites
• Test Infrastructure - e.g. Docker and containerisation
• TDD and BDD principles
• Micro-service architecture and API testing principles
• CI/CD pipelines
• Java 11/17/21 and Springboot framework
• Testing frameworks such as Cucumber, REST Assured, WireMock
• SC Security Clearance for accessing production logs
• Front-end testing frameworks such as Selenium
• Accessibility testing (WCAG)

• Travel to client sites in Newcastle or Manchester; based near either area

Contract details

This is a contract which will be moving into 2026 and beyond on key government projects.
