Job Title: BI Platform Engineer

Salary Range: £70,929 - £78,810

Location: Bristol

Hours: Full-time – 35 hours per week

Working Pattern: Hybrid, with at least two days per week spent at our Bristol office.

About this opportunity

Join our Analytics & AI Platform, enabling Analytics & AI within the organisation. This role sits within the Business Intelligence as a Service (BIaaS) lab, focused on delivering our vision for the future of BI.

The role involves BI Platform Engineering, including Design, Build, Implementation, Scale-Out, and Support of our strategic BI Applications and related Products, Features, Patterns/Blueprints, Best Practices, and Operating Models.

You will work closely with teams like Networking, Security, Architecture, and Cloud Services, and demonstrate experience with Software Engineering Principles and common challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Connectivity between our BI Applications and various on-premise and cloud data sources.
  • Self-Service capabilities to all BI personas.
  • Conversational Analytics through Natural Language Query interfaces.
  • Data Agents for BI
  • BI Marketplace
  • BI Semantic / Knowledge Layer
  • Simplifying our BI Estate.

Requirements

  • Skilled in Cloud BI Platforms like PowerBI and Looker.
  • Relevant Cloud certification or demonstrate platform engineering skills related to PowerBI, Fabric, Looker, or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Curation components for PowerBI and/or Looker.
  • Comfortable engaging in platform design, remediation, or problem-solving discussions with other relevant enablement functions.
  • Passion for the BI domain with an eye for innovation.
  • Strong grasp of Software Development Principles, Route-to-Live for BI Content, and BI Platform development.
  • Knowledge of golden paths for end-to-end BI Data Patterns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
