The Role
As a BMS Service and Commissioning Engineer at JBC Control Systems, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring every system we deliver performs exactly as it should - efficiently, reliably, and safely. You’ll take projects from installation through to commissioning, testing, and client handover, representing JBC’s reputation for quality and professionalism at every stage.
You’ll:
Commission, service, and optimise a range of JBC BMS systems, ensuring all installations meet design and operational standards.
Integrate 3rd-party systems using Modbus, M-Bus, and BACnet protocols to create seamless, fully functional control environments.
Carry out system testing, fault diagnosis, and calibration, ensuring all hardware and software operate as intended.
Produce detailed commissioning reports, test documentation, and as-fitted drawings, providing a clear record of system performance.
Collaborate closely with project managers, service coordinators, and clients, keeping everyone informed on progress and performance.
Deliver client training and system demonstrations, ensuring end users understand and can confidently operate their BMS systems.
Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, system optimisation, and overall building performance.
Support, guide, and mentor junior engineers, sharing your technical expertise and contributing to their development.
Back-engineer or modify software strategies and graphics where required, maintaining accuracy and functionality.
Ensure high standards of safety, compliance, and documentation on every project you work on.
About You
You’ll have a background in BMS, controls, or building automation, with strong fault-finding skills and a logical approach to problem solving. What matters most is your ability to work independently, think creatively, and maintain the high standards JBC is known for.

You’ll need to have:
Previous experience working with BMS, controls systems, or building automation
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
A good understanding of electrical or control system schematics
Experience commissioning, servicing, or maintaining BMS or HVAC control systems
Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, M-Bus, or BACnet
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel across the North West

Location & Working Hours
Region: North West (field-based, travel required)
Hours: 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday
Office Base: Atherleigh Business Park, Atherton, Manchester
Overnight stays: Occasionally required (with full expenses paid)
