Responsibilities

  • Develop early-stage operational energy strategy models to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with digital teams to create, test, and deploy in-house modelling tools.
  • Conduct advanced IES modelling assessments, including compliance checks (Part L, TM52, TM59, TM54, ASHRAE 90.1), daylighting, and wind studies.
  • Lead technical projects, managing resources and producing detailed reports on review and interdisciplinary impacts.
  • Act as Project Leader for Building Physics initiatives, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Report progress and issues to the Building Physics Lead, maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • Engage with AtkinsRéalis Global Technical Centre to enhance project value through international collaboration.
  • Stay current with modelling best practices and emerging technologies to improve project outcomes.
  • Boost team productivity and quality by implementing processes, training, and software interoperability (e.g., Revit to Dialux, IES).
  • Support team development, including mentoring junior staff and expanding modelling expertise across tools like IES-VE, SAP, CFD, Therm, and PHPP.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of UK and EU standards, Building Regulations (especially Part L), and building services systems.
  • Expertise in passive design and energy-efficient solutions, with experience in developing energy strategies and dynamic modelling.
  • A degree in mechanical engineering or building physics.
  • Proficiency in modelling tools and assessments (e.g., IES-VE, SAP, CFD), with the ability to manage scope and resources effectively.
  • Professional memberships (CIBSE, IET, IMechE) and Low Carbon Energy Assessor status are advantageous.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, with high literacy and the ability to author technical reports.
  • Team-oriented mindset, with mentoring capabilities and a supportive approach to junior staff development.
  • Logical and solution-driven, with a passion for improving building performance and contributing to digital transformation and net zero goals.
  • Adaptable and culturally aware, able to work across diverse teams and client environments.
  • Security clearance eligibility and UK passport holder, with a confident, professional, and proactive attitude.
