As a Business Systems AI Engineer, you will play a key role in end-to-end development of diverse AI applications, translating use case requirements into effective solutions.

Business Systems Solutions is a vital technology function set up to support the wider growth of the Business. The team utilises various technologies to provide custom-built solutions and implement third-party products and services. We support processes in driving effectiveness, efficiency, scalability and sustainability.

Working closely with stakeholders from across the Business, you will ensure value-driven integration of AI systems and practices, utilising Prompt Engineering, hosting feedback and workshop sessions and creating support tutorial documentation.

A key part of your role will be driving AI innovation by championing the creation and use of AI tools, you will be involved in initiatives to upskill the wider Business Systems function in AI and foster knowledge-sharing.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, AI, or in a related field or relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing innovative AI solutions.
  • Familiar with advanced Prompt Engineering techniques and practices to validate and expand on LLM use cases, both for user-facing and backend applications, whilst effectively utilising structured outputs and vision techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Familiar with Cloud-based AI tools and services including Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Exceptional understanding of Generative AI principals, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing topics, including Large Language Models and Vector Indexing, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise and impact-orientated manner.
  • Ability to mentor Junior Software Developers and contribute to a knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Certifications including Azure AI Engineer Associate, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, or similar.

Main Responsibilities

  • Driving the end-to-end development of AI models and solutions, seeking and identifying opportunities to enhance Business operations and efficiencies through AI capabilities.
  • Implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation capabilities within our portfolio of AI applications.
  • Formulating use cases in chatbot-style AI applications via innovative prompt engineering.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and the wider development and testing teams to effectively integrate AI solutions and features into pre-existing Business applications.
  • Translating strategic visions into functional proof-of-concept AI applications and systems and presenting these to stakeholders.
  • Staying up to date of AI advancements and features of third-party products, and creating, maintaining and updating technical documentation related to AI solutions and best practices for interaction and use of these systems.
  • Establishing and maintaining responsible AI policy and best practices and establishing a systematic process for reporting and tracking bugs within Language Model solutions.
  • Mentoring and guiding Junior Software Developers, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
  • Willing and ready to learn and contribute in any of the other technology stacks the team uses for example .NET and React.
