This role is responsible for leading the EDU Geometric Integration team that will ensure compatibility of the EDU to the system level requirements. The individual will lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers working in an Agile framework, to ensure geometric compatibility, entitlement to meet system performance and demonstrating quality through the use of evidence base engineering review.
Position: CAD Integration Lead Engineer
Domain: Automotive Powertrain EDU
Job Type: Permanent (£45k to £52k Annual Gross), Contract (£30 per Hour to £33 per Hour Outside IR35)
Location: Onsite West Midlands, UK
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, development workstreams within the scope of the engineering development projects.
- Conduct the design analysis and development with utmost quality within agile framework.
- Dynamic & static attribute targets to be integrated into the product design assessment. Support prototype design freeze activities for customer applications, support customer production / prototype sites & liaise with their engineering team.
EDU geometric compatibility:
- Create and publish skeleton models to define EDU component architecture
- Regular publication of full assembly models in line with sprint cadence
- Manage EDU assembly design freeze in line with programme gateways
- Support vehicle package reviews
- Complete virtual build events
- Support virtual builds for rig setups
Resolve incompatibilities through arbitration between teams:
- Lead resolution of issues which cross multiple component groups through the integration design review
- Support vehicle build issues
EDU system validation:
- Create test requests as required by the DFMEA
- Compile evidence from test, and load test report to corporate repository
- Complete Evidence based engineering reviews for EDU assembly
Labels release:
- Design and release responsibility for EDU labels
Key Performance Indicators:
- Validation test case completion
- Regular 3D model publication in line with sprint cadence – CAD maturity vs gateway requirements
Skills Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Experience of 3D modelling tools and techniques, preferably in CATIA V6
- Good understanding of GD&T
- Experience and knowledge of Agile product delivery methodology
- Proven track record of delivering innovative design solutions.
- Experience in project management and issue resolution.
- Degree in Engineering or relevant equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive CAD engineering, ideally within Powertrain Systems
- Experience of working in a Product Owner role
- Experience of managing projects and backlogs in tools such as Confluence and JIRA
- Previous experience of the automotive or manufacturing industry
- Detailed knowledge of EDU design
