Job Descriptions

Calibration Engineer / Calibration Technician / Calibration Specialist required for a Calibration and Metrology Service provider near Blackburn, Lancashire. A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the role. The successful Calibration Engineer will be responsible for calibration measuring instrumentation and repair facilities to both ISO9001 standards and UKAS standards. You will be responsible for calibrating micrometres, callipers, height gauges.

Calibration Engineer is permanent in some listings, based in Telford, Leyland, Rise Technical Recruitment Limited regions (Chorley/Preston/Blackburn/Wigan/Bolton) with similar responsibilities: calibration measuring instrumentation to ISO9001 and UKAS standards, calibrating micrometres, callipers, height gauges.

Dimensional/Engineering roles include: Dimensional Calibration Engineer (Chorley/Preston area) responsible for calibrating dimensional, mechanical and hand measuring instruments to traceable and UKAS standards; various senior roles possible with UKAS signatory, Calibration Team Leader, Senior Calibration Technician, Standards Room Inspector, Head of Laboratory, etc. with extensive dimensional/mechanical calibration experience. Salary DoE and benefits; standard 40 hours/week with potential variations.

Powertrain Calibration Engineer (Gaydon, West Midlands) – contract. Responsibilities include testing of diesel and gasoline combustion and aftertreatment systems, supporting environmental test trips, developing and calibrating diesel particulate filter (DPF) systems, and using tools such as INCA/MDA, Concerto, CRETA, Matlab/Simulink to analyse data and calibrate. Mentoring junior engineers. UK/EU driving license and passport required; engineering degree preferred. Location: Gaydon.

Gasoline Calibration Engineer (West Sussex) – contract/outside IR35 potential. Responsibilities include base engine calibration development (air charge, torque structure, fueling, knock control, exhaust temperature modelling), engine emissions strategy development, calibration across test rigs/vehicles/remote setups, daily development work on engine testbeds, data analysis and client engagement. Requirements include EMS calibration experience, EMS tools (INCA/MDA), data interpretation and client-facing communication.

Mobile Calibration Engineer (South Region) – field-based; salary approximate £31,000 plus van, expenses, overtime, pension, holidays, progression, company benefits.

What you will bring (typical): strong engineering background with a track record in engine calibration or related discipline; experience with EMS calibration and strategy development; proficiency with calibration and data analysis tools (INCA, MDA, etc.); understanding of engine fundamentals (combustion, emissions control); ability to work with clients and stakeholders; driving license (and passport for European trips). Some postings require a degree in Engineering.
