We offer flexible and remote working policies designed to help you get the most out of life.We have a great opportunity for an experienced and well-rounded Chartered/Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office to support our portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects in the UK and internationally. The role supports projects in the infrastructure sector (defence, rail, highways & water) and the energy sector, including renewable energy, low carbon engineering and nuclear power.As one of the UK’s leading geotechnical consultancies, AtkinsRéalis offers a comprehensive service in ground engineering. Locally you would join our team of geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists based in Scotland, with opportunities to engage with colleagues across our national business.
Your purposeYou will be a chartered geotechnical engineer with a proven technical leadership and project management track record.The role includes mentoring junior geotechnical engineers, so good communication skills are essential.We are especially interested in candidates with experience of working in Design and Build environments.You should have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnical subject and hold chartered status as either a civil engineer or geologist.You should have the drive and ability to help develop and expand our infrastructure or energy geotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of a rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team capable of tackling work across a broad spectrum of sectors.What you can bringA good academic background with a degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).Chartered status; proven experience of working in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.Project management: experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including client relationships, work planning and commercial management.Proven geotechnical design experience and numerical/analytical capabilities for structures, foundations, slopes and anchors using appropriate tools and workflows. Experience with numerical software such as GeoStudio, Repute, Wallap, etc.Digital geotechnical engineering capability including the application of AI and machine learning in geotechnical design.Application of CDM Regulations in a design and ground investigation environment. Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to lead geotechnical design teams.Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients to support effective work winning and delivery.Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful projects to support right-first-time delivery. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.A willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas. A valid UK driving license.
