Civil Engineer\n\nJob Purpose\n\nAs a civil/temporary works engineer, you will be responsible for working independently and carrying out the design, analysis, and management of engineering projects.\n\nThis role involves working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically sound and compliant projects.\n\nThis role will provide opportunities for involvement and skill development in client liaison and project management, encompassing both time and budget management.\n\nRoles & Responsibilities\n\n * Undertake preliminary and detailed designs for engineering projects\n\n * Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports.\n\n * Perform structural analysis and ensure compliance with engineering standards.\n\n * Assist in the preparation of /tender proposals\n\n * Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.\n\n * Conduct site visits and inspections\n\n * Ensure compliance with design and safety standards\n\n * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Contractors and Clients, on projects\n\n * Manage project timelines, budgets, and communication with stakeholders.\n\n * Provide technical support to junior and graduate engineers.\n\nPerson Specification\n\nEducation\n\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE or IStructE accredited course\n\nA 2:1 (or equivalent) degree classification or above\nDemonstrate commitment to undertake continuous professional development towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.\n\nEvidence of continuous professional development progress towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.\n\nSkills\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills (in English).\nAbility to work effectively with the Microsoft suite of programs, such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint\n\nProficiency in design and analysis, and any associated software\nStrong understanding of design codes and standards.\nGood communication and collaboration skills.\nAbility to manage tasks and work within deadlines.\n\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to comply with Quality Assurance Management Systems.\n\nExperience\n\nMinimum 2 years experience in preferably rail-based projects.\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nAptitude to work on your own initiative, be proactive and take responsibility.\nThe initiative, a flexible approach, and the ability to multi-task and prioritise.\n\nHighly motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.\n\nEnthusiastic, hardworking and a positive outlook and approachable manner\n\nGood communication and teamwork abilities.\n\nWillingness to learn and adapt\n\nOperate in a fast-paced and dynamic multi-tasking environment\n\nAdditional Responsibilities\n\nA full clean driving license would be an advantage\nSentinel Track Safety – PTS holder\n\nFamiliar with Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Bentley (MicroStation) software.\n\nDue to the nature of this role, site work, overnight or weekend work may be required.\n\nWhy Consider this Role?\n\nThe company has a “can do” attitude.
