Role: Civil & Structural Design EngineerLocation: ManchesterStart Date: January 2026Duration: 6 monthsRate: £45 - £50 P/hr OUTSIDE IR35Hybrid working 3 days in office 2 days at home.We are recruiting for a third party worker to join our clients 'Civil' Design team. The role is based in Manchester and involves the production and review of technical solutions for our Grid Access Substations and HVDC Converter Stations business.You will work in a collaborative team environment where significant interaction and coordination with other design disciplines will be prevalent on a daily basis. The selected individual shall be responsible for providing solutions and technical input to a live project. The individual will have the competence to self deliver solutions and provide governance on the proposals provided by others. The role will require skills associated with the planning and delivering work packages on time and to budget.This is a varied role which will require a diverse but well rounded skill set. We are looking for someone who is technically excellent, reliable and with an attention to detail whilst inducing value opportunites. Predominantly the role is hybrid based, but may require occasional (infrequent) visits to site to address issues at a construction levelYour profile The role surpasses the standard requirements of a civil / structural engineer and is a necessity to service other design disciplines.A working knowledge of M&E design concepts, principles and associated coordinationExperience working with / for a civil / structural design consultancySignificant experience of both civil and structural design together with a broad architectural knowledgeA working knowledge of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015. The candidate must be aware of the duties of the designer and obligations which may fall onto them due to the undertaking of designs outside of the United KingdomEarthworks design and a working knowledge of the Specification for Highway WorksExperience in successfully utilising computational frame design software (e.g., Masterseries, Tedds, STAD-Pro)The ability to read and understanding the implications / procurement of preconstruction information: drainage impact assessments (useful), geotechnical reports - desktop, intrusive & interpretativeAbility to review calculations provided by others and understand if the level of information presented is suitable, appropriate and the design is economic. Such activities may require a forensic review on hand calculations and the output from computer design packagesAn appreciation of planning consents and the provision of technical support / management of third parties to ensure that the requirements are met.Experience of multidisciplinary works (from power transmission or similar industries e.g.,energy from waste, petrochemical, water)Good all-round technical knowledgeWorking knowledge of both British and European codes of practice and Building RegulationsAn understanding of task scheduling of design activities including linkages with other disciplines and milestone datesGood working knowledge of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and affiliated health and safety legislationThe applicant must be capable of delivering clear instructions to external design consultancies and managing timescales and design scopeGood client facing skills Design, engineering, or construction qualificationChartered Engineer or equivalent experienceRullion celebrates and supports diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for both employees and applicants.JBRP1_UKTJ
