Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
* Undertaking preliminary and detailed designs for engineering projects. * Preparing technical drawings, specifications, and reports. * Performing structural analysis and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. * Assisting in the preparation of fee and tender proposals. * Coordinating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. * Conducting site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety standards. * Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors and clients. * Managing project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication. * Providing technical support and mentorship to junior and graduate engineers.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE or IStructE accredited course. * A minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent). * A commitment to continuous professional development, with progress towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status. * Proficiency in design and analysis software, as well as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * A strong understanding of design codes and standards. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * A minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in rail-based projects. * A full, clean driving license (advantageous). * Sentinel Track Safety - PTS certification (preferred).
Day-to-Day
Your typical day will involve:
* Designing and analyzing engineering solutions for a variety of projects. * Preparing detailed technical documentation and reports. * Liaising with clients and contractors to ensure project requirements are met. * Conducting site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety standards. * Managing project schedules and budgets to deliver on time and within scope. * Collaborating with team members to solve complex engineering challenges. * Supporting junior engineers in their professional development.
