The Role

As a Combat System Engineer, you will contribute to the UK’s Armed Forces by delivering integration, test, evaluation and acceptance activities across all phases of the equipment lifecycle to support operationally effective Combat System capability. You will operate within a team delivering the NCSISS (Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Service) contract, conducting integration and testing under the guidance of Senior Combat System Engineers, and in partnership with the NCSISS Project Manager. You will develop test plans, conduct integration, and produce supporting evidence for customer use. You will also support customer engagement to understand requirements related to capability and programme constraints.

Your Responsibilities

  • Execute key systems engineering activities on significant projects
  • Engage with external and internal stakeholders to meet customer and business needs and mitigate issues
  • Direct technical documentation in support of work carried out
  • Deliver work and report progress to project leads and customers
  • Conduct sea trials on Royal Navy ships, potentially overseas

Essential Experience

  • Relevant experience in an engineering field
  • Proven experience on Naval Combat Systems or Radar, Sonar, C2 or Weapons
  • Experience in Test & Evaluation or Integration

Essential Qualifications

  • Honours Degree in Engineering, Physics or similar. HNC/D Level qualification is acceptable with appropriate experience

This role is 37 hours per week, based at the Portsmouth site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites is expected.
