The Opportunity:
An opportunity is available for a highly experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support a major nuclear project. The successful candidate will be based in West Cumbria, working 40 hours per week, with hybrid options available.
The role will support the Commissioning Capability team in all aspects of Mechanical Commissioning from concept to delivery. The successful candidate will preferably have existing knowledge and experience in nuclear standards and processes.
Your duties and responsibilities:
The Commissioning Engineer reporting to the Commissioning Team Leader, carries out a role to undertake delivery of assigned commissioning tasks in a safe and effective manner, in line with commissioning process requirements.
This role is specific to candidates with experience in nuclear in-cell handler testing.
The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for:
Execution of the arrangements for controlling, witnessing, recording and assessing the results of commissioning tests which may affect safety.
Delivering the commissioning work scope to an agreed strategy and plan in a timely and cost effective manner.
Ensuring a proactive and balanced approach to safety (nuclear, radiological, conventional and environmental) to ensure that safety is optimised during commissioning.
Reviewing commissioning progress and performance and taking appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
Managing day to day liaison with personnel to obtain any necessary permissions and minimize impact to the project.
Review of commissioning test results.
Ensuring input to other project processes are incorporated, for example, design, HAZOP, risk, contract, estimating and knowledge management.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering-related subject or equivalent
Nuclear Mechanical systems commissioning
Experience in Nuclear commissioning
Project Management knowledge, preferably APM member
Calculation production using Excel
IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
Relevant trade card
Design Tools/Software:
Latest editions of Microsoft Office software
The setting for the role
The role will be mainly office based with trips to site if required. A safety induction will be provided.
