Overview

Communications Systems Engineer (5G Satellites) to design, integrate, and test next-generation 5G satellites and advanced communications systems. Youll collaborate across internal and external engineering teams to build clear, data-driven trade studies and recommendations spanning ground infrastructure, payload solutions, and key technology trade-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Generate system-level requirements, specifications, and interface definitions
  • Perform end-to-end system design trade-offs
  • Analyse system-level performance and allocate requirements to subsystems/components
  • Define system and satellite payload CONOPS and architecture, with emphasis on RF and PHY layer aspects
  • Develop requirements for antenna systems and on-board processing functions
  • Drive technology maturation and risk-reduction plans for critical elements (ground and space)
  • Support business development and proposal activities with multiple customers and partners
  • Lead/participate in specification trade-off negotiations with customers, partners, engineers, and working groups

Experience & Qualifications

  • Educated to PhD or similar in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline
  • Strong communication, analytical and mathematical skills
  • Simulation and computer modelling (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar)
  • Digital signal processing background
  • RF & comms systems engineering experience (link budgets, RF line-ups, waveform design)
  • Experience in the space industry (LEO/MEO/GEO, payload/ground segments)
  • Understanding of 5G or related technologies (e.g., LTE/NR)
  • Familiarity with phased array antennas

Hybrid working with occasional travel to partner/customer sites and test facilities (as required).
