A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Composite Design Engineer to join a cutting-edge engineering team at the forefront of motorsport and high-performance engineering. This role is ideal for an experienced design engineer with a strong background in composite structures and a passion for delivering innovative, lightweight, and high-performance solutions.


You’ll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, contributing to world-class vehicle programmes across Formula 1, motorsport, and advanced technology sectors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design and development of advanced composite components and assemblies for high-performance applications.
  • Generate robust, lightweight, and manufacturable composite designs from concept through to production, including laminate definitions, ply books, core specifications, and bonding strategies.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and quality targets, and are aligned with tooling and process requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, material selections, and continuous improvement initiatives across composite systems and structures.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and development phases with clear documentation and problem-solving input.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in composite design engineering, ideally within motorsport, Formula 1, aerospace, or other high-performance industries.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, structural behaviour, and design for manufacturing principles (layup, tooling, trimming, bonding).
  • Hands-on design experience of composite components such as monocoques, bodywork, wings, crash structures, floor assemblies, and internal panels.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX or CATIA V5/3DX, including surfacing and parametric modelling for composite applications.
  • Knowledge of relevant composite standards, testing methods, and performance criteria is advantageous.
