Description
As a Control & Protection Electrical Hardware Design Engineer within Hitachi Energy’s HVDC, you will be responsible for designing control cabinet layouts, including hundreds of circuit boards for measurements, control, and calculations. The system incorporates user interfaces such as HMI, diagnostic tools, IT infrastructure, and security. We utilize our in-house real-time platform, MACH, to meet industry standards. This role offers opportunities for international travel to contribute to power station projects worldwide.
This is a hybrid role: 3 days in our Glasgow offices, remaining work from home. Please note, we cannot provide visa support.
How you’ll make an impact
- Cubicle Design & Integration: Design cubicles and integrate hardware components.
- Documentation: Create BOMs, terminal diagrams, cable lists, and schedules.
- Coordination & Inspection: Coordinate with manufacturers and perform inspections.
- Design Preparation: Prepare specifications, diagrams, and clarifications.
- Design Review: Lead or participate in review meetings to ensure accuracy.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments.
- Validation: Validate designs from suppliers to meet specs.
- Support & Collaboration: Support testing, commissioning, and collaborate with clients and colleagues.
Your background
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s in a relevant technical field.
- Professional Experience: Experience with HVDC projects and at least 3 years in the UK.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of control and protection panel design (CRP).
- Additional Skills: Site experience in testing and commissioning is advantageous.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD tools like Engineering Base or Ruplan.
- Specialized Knowledge: EMC knowledge or experience with AC substations is a plus.
