Cost Engineer - Energy

Due to increased opportunities and demand in the Energy & Natural Resources division, the South West team is recruiting for Cost Engineers to join a diverse and supportive team during a period of significant growth. Our nuclear client is at the forefront of industry-leading change, and we are keen to speak to like-minded individuals with senior cost engineering experience to see what Turner & Townsend can offer you.
Position Details: Candidates will be required to be present in our client office in Bridgewater for 3 days per week.
Role Responsibilities: A Cost Engineer will be responsible for work packages and projects of varying size and complexity. Senior Cost Engineers will lead on cost control for multiple projects or highly complex single projects, managing relationships between time, cost, risk, change, reporting, and scope. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining cost controls and reports, ensuring projects meet time, cost, and quality targets.
Key Duties:
- Tailor cost control approaches to meet client needs and align with best practices.
- Implement and maintain cost control systems to track budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
- Establish a robust Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and support change control processes.
- Develop project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and align budgets with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Manage cost estimates, control accounts, and purchase orders to monitor project costs.
- Adhere to NEC or FIDIC contract processes for cost management.
- Lead accrual production and support change processes with cost information.
- Update forecasts and ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Interact with management and leadership to deliver cost control updates.
- Guide and influence project teams on cost control processes and reports.
Candidate Requirements:
- Senior professional Project Controls experience in Cost Engineering/Control across project lifecycles.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop teams, fostering diversity and inclusion.
- Eligibility to obtain BPSS security clearance.
- Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, PMI).
- Experience with cost performance reporting, forecasting techniques, and project performance assurance.
- Understanding of how other Project Controls aspects interact with Cost Control is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with decision-making and conflict resolution abilities.
